Some people just light up a room the moment they enter, they are fun and cheery and draw people to them. When I think of someone with a yellow aura this is the type of person I picture in my mind.
I have been doing aura readings for about 2 years now, when I started doing tarot readings in 2020 I always got someone’s colors too. I’ve noticed that yellow is one of the most common aura types, and wanted to explore what that meant in more detail.
Everyone has an aura, kind of like an energetic force-field around their body, that influences how they perceive the world and what they attract. This color can change over time, but most of us will have one prominent aura color that appears for most of our lives.
If you’ve found out you have a yellow aura or have a strong affinity to this color, then this post is for you. So let’s dive right in!
What does a yellow aura mean?
Aura colors are actually not that complex! The complications come in how you embody and practice bringing forth your strongest qualities/traits in the world – where you may experience pushback.
Yellow auras are sunny personalities. They are warm and welcoming, tend to be quite social and outgoing. They have an energy that pulls other people in, and tend to be great at inspiring and leading others if that’s what they want to do.
Yellow is most connected to the solar plexus chakra, which governs our personal power and will. Even without being forceful (people with yellow auras tend to be quite soft actually) they make a big impression.
Light yellow
The meaning of the aura also depends on the shade/tone the color is in. For yellow there are three main variations. A light yellow aura represents a person who is just beginning on a path of self discovery.
They just got out of a bad relationship, an unfulfilling career, they’ve released a lot of negative habits at once. If you have a light yellow aura, persist on your path and continue your practices – let your light grow brighter.
Bright yellow
Then we have the bright yellow aura, this one represents a more developed sense of personal power and purpose. If you have this aura color you have made a change in your life and stuck to it!
You understand that in order to do anything meaningful and worthwhile, you have to stay the course regardless of the obstacles that come up or what other people might think. You’re self-assured and it takes a lot to dim your light or sway you.
Golden yellow
The golden aura represents a clear connection to your spiritual side, and sometimes a yellow aura will have a slightly golden tint to it.
If you have this color then you are understand how to apply power in a more nuanced way. You understand your goals not just on a practical level but a spiritual one – and want to align more with your soul.

Personal life, career & relationships
If you have this aura color you will tend to have success in dating/relationships. You won’t have to force anything or go out of your way to find suitable partners.
A problem you might find in relationship is being the person others come to for support/emotional reassurance, but not always having that reciprocated.
Yellow auras in particular are prone to dimming. One of the difficulties when it comes to having a bright and welcoming personality, is maintaining that long-term.
Boundaries are important for everyone, but specifically relevant to yellow auras. If you know you are a magnetic person, be discerning with who you choose to interact with and invite in. Not everyone who comes your way has good intentions!
The yellow aura is often associated with intelligence, this is because in order to be tuned into our personal power we must be very discerning. We must know when to stay and persist in a situation, and when to leave.
Not everyone with a yellow aura is an extroverted or incredibly social person, but many are. This aligns well with careers in events/planning, arts & culture, performance, care work and education.
Why is yellow such a common aura color?
I do tend to see a lot of yellow auras in my work. One of the reasons this might be is a lot of people come to me after accessing more of their personal power.
They’re doing the inner work, connecting with their spirit, taking action on their intuition. My sample is not necessarily representative of the general population; naturally the auras I read tend to be brighter.
I have also noted this is a fairly consistent color throughout someone’s life. I will see yellow in someone’s aura over multiple readings, compared to colors that tend to shift more frequently like orange and blue.
Can your aura color change over time?
Yes, aura colors can and will change over time, even if that is only in subtle ways. This is because our energy is always changing in some way.
Our aura color is determined by our core personality traits, upbringing, mindset and experiences.
This is why often someone’s’ main aura color will remain the same for many years or even decades, but the colors around that will shift as they learn and experience new things.
In this way, we can affect our own color through our actions and choices, it’s not a random thing. You can decide to express your vibrance, brightness and extroversion more frequently and with less shame. You can protect your energy by setting boundaries, so those colors can brighten.
How to figure out your aura color
There are many ways to figure out your aura color. You can practice viewing your own aura, I have a guide on how to do that here.
You can get an aura reading from me!
Another cool way to figure out your colors is by getting into a meditation, allowing your mind to clear completely and waiting for a color to appear. Understand that you know your energy best, and you can trust your intuition.
Getting a reading is perfectly find (I recommend it 😉) but we can absolutely trust our own guidance too. A reading will simply build on those findings.

Hey there, I’m Ashley. I hope that by sharing my experiences with deepening my intuition, I can help you find that ‘spark’. That magic we can all experience when our energy is aligned and we feel deeply supported by the Universe.
