Ask, believe, receive…manifesting is as simple as that right? If your experience has been a little different, if there has been more detors and delays than you expected, this post is for you.
Manifesting is the art of bringing our ideas & dreams into the physical through managing and directing our energy. The idea is that what we put out there, the vibration we broadcast, reflects what we receive. Positive thoughts result in positive outcomes.
I think things are little more complex than that and tend to view manifestation as process. A process of discovering what you need, want and what you are actually drawn to. Through this process there are many bumps.
Sometimes things get worse before they get better!
Your intentions aren’t clear enough
So often when manifesting we’re so focused on clearing out the old that we forget we must also be clear about what we want to bring in.
Anytime you do an energy cleansing, meditation, shift old habits, confront shadows, be very clear on what you want to create too.
When we leave behind an old life, space, identity, we kind of create a vacuum behind us. If we are not carefully, if we do not set clear enough intentions for how we moving forward, we will simply fall back into that space.
I recommend writing your intentions down rather than leaving them floating around in the mind. Our brains are incredibly fickle, especially when we are starting a new routine, putting things down on paper means we have something physical to look back on an reference.
You can create two lists ‘Everything I am letting go of’ & ‘Everything I am calling in’.
Your new boundaries are being tested
On my manifestation journey one of my strongest thoughts when things go wrong is ‘I am being tested’. Actually this has felt less like a thought at times, and more like a visceral punch to the stomach.
It can feel at times that the Universe is just playing with us; that it is punishing us for something we have done…or the way that we are.
And we are for sure being tested, but not because the Universe has it out for us. When we attempt to step into a new way of being, a new vibration, we test ourselves and are tested by the world around us.
Notice where you are falling back into old patterns, entertaining things that you used to but no longer want to, and have a bit more audacity with this new person you becoming.
Old beliefs are clearing out
Manifestation is a process of shifting how you view the world and how you view yourself! Through that we uncover our fears, doubts, limits too and these can interfere with the manifesting process.
New beliefs are not these detached sentiments that we can just repeat robotically and expect change, we have to actually believe what we say. That means that any old beliefs or thought patterns that contradict this will be fighting extra hard for their life.
Sometimes it isn’t about switching out a ‘negative’ thought for a ‘positive’ thought right away, but widening your perspective a little. Maybe there will be a negative outcome, but maybe there will be a positive one.
Neutrality is a great tool when we are battling old beliefs and welcoming in new ones – make space for both in the meantime and gradually put more focus on the uplifting beliefs that feel fitting for you.
There is always some destruction in creation
If we want new energy to occupy an old space…there is going to be some destruction.
So often when we start manifesting our life falls apart spectacularly. We lose friendships, family members, jobs, our grounding. I think this phase requires a lot of discernment, because we can lean into this destruction a little too far.
But understand that some things have to shift, you are not always going to feel comfortable throughout the process, because not only are you working towards a goal you are creating a new identity.
The best thing you can do during this phase is to just be. Don’t encourage destruction, but also don’t resist it. Allow the old to be released so that new can come in.
You are releasing resistance
Manifesting makes us more sensitive to what is going on inside of us.
As we’ve discussed you will come to know your beliefs, limits, shadows a lot better when stepping into a new identity. You are getting your body and nervous system comfortable feeling a new type of way.
I always say that if you can feel resistance it is a good thing! If you can feel it you can heal it, if you can feel it you can actually work with it and release.
We don’t necessarily experience more resistance when manifesting, but we become aware of the resistance we’re already holding onto.
There’s nothing fancy you need to do to release resistance, it will release once you get comfortable embodying a different energy in the body.
And so, remember that the goal you have in mind is not really ‘the goal’. If you want to manifest financial freedom, you are wanting freedom period. You want to feel safe and secure, you want your body to feel well rested and nourished.
As often as you can, lean into embodying those emotions in the presence. Put focus on who you know yourself to be, the capabilities an strengths you do have (that you might be working on) and the type of energy you are choosing to carry with you everyday.
What has your experience of releasing resistance been like?

Hey there, I’m Ashley. I hope that by sharing my experiences with deepening my intuition, I can help you find that ‘spark’. That magic we can all experience when our energy is aligned and we feel deeply supported by the Universe.
