How To Increase Synchronicity in Your Life

How To Increase Synchronicity

One of the ways we know we are on the right path and our awareness is increasing, is that we begin to experience more and more synchronicity.

Synchronicity is a term coined by psychotherapist Carl Jung, which describes a phenomenon where two seemingly unrelated events later appear to have an underlining connection.

Like when we think about someone we haven’t talked to in months and then randomly receive a phone call or text from them. These events make us aware of the inherent inter-connectedness between people, places and things.

Today I want to explore the difference between coincidence and synchronicity, as well as share advice on how to attract more synchronicity into your life.

What is synchronicity?

First of all, what is synchronicity and why would you want to increase it?

The reason we might want to increase these synchronicities is to become/feel more connected with the world around us and the Universe.

I don’t think it’s helpful to constantly seek out synchronicity, so much so that it becomes overwhelming or distracting, but we can create the right conditions for more interconnectedness and encourage more magic in our life.

Synchronicity is an ever present reality for those who have eyes to see

Carl Jung

The difference between synchronicity and coincidence is the awareness we hold in the moment, as we are going about our day.

When we are unaware conincidences are just that…conincidences – they don’t bring us anywhere specific. When we become more aware, coincidences start to take on a different form – synchronicity. It’s all about the awareness we bring to something.⁣

Synchronicity is distinct to coincidence in that it lines up a particular path, it brings us somewhere specific. ⁣

I believe that each of us has a soul purpose; something that we want to share with the world. Synchronicities occur when we are connected to our soul, and as a result, we are pulled in the right direction to fulfil that purpose.

3 ways to attract more synchronicity

attract more synchronicity

1. Tune into your intuition

The first reason we might not be experiencing synchronicity in our lives is because we aren’t tuned into our intuition. We defer to our family members, friends and authority figures when it comes to making big decisions in our lives. In this modern world we are also constantly bombarded with other people’s words and images. It has become harder to tune out.

In order to get more in touch with our intuition it’s helpful to take a step back from the busyness and noise, and reconnect with ourselves.

Ways to tune into quiet:

  • Meditation
  • Time in nature
  • Journaling
  • Embracing solitude
  • Your preferred forms of self-care

2. Learn to let go

Another reason we might not be experiencing synchronicity is because we are too attached to specific outcomes. When we work on something we want it to unfold in the exact way we had in mind. When we are going about our day, we get frustrated if things don’t go exactly as planned.

The more present we can be in the moment and flexible we are to different outcomes, the more opportunity we give the Universe to surprise us and open new paths.

If you have difficulty letting go, practice approaching a single day with more acceptance. Just one, and then build up from there! As you go about your daily routine, notice the distractions, delays and obstacles that pop up.

Affirm, ‘This is happening for my highest good’ or something to that effect. When there is a delay, notice how shifting your attitude towards it changes how the view the delay itself but also how your entire day feels different too.

Often synchronicities come through in delays and detours. Sometimes the Universe uses unexpected shake ups in our routine as a way to bring us into the present. Which leads us onto my next point…

3. Switch up your your routine

One of the most powerful ways I have found to get back into the ~magic~ that sometimes seems to fade into the background on the spiritual path, is to deliberately change something about a stagnant routine. ⁣

To take a different route some days (even if it is longer), go to a new place or talk to someone you wouldn’t normally.⁣

This is a way to signal to the Universe that you open to something new happening, that you are anticipating it – which starts to light those new paths up. ⁣

If you want to feel more connected to yourself, your intuition and the Universe, take a look at your current routines and pinpoint one area that you would like to shake up a little.

What is one change you have been wanting to make, that you feel called to, but have been putting off?

When you have to start doing things in a slightly different way, notice how you begin to view things in a slightly different way too.

If you take a longer path, pay more attention to where you are going and why. Bring yourself out of autopilot and really take in your surroundings. What new things pull your attention? What new intuitive messages can you access?

Overall, welcoming more synchronicity into our lives is a way to experience more magic. When things become mundane, we can regain our sense of wonder and awe.
