
The ego is the loudest when you are close to breaking through; when you are just about to step into a new identity or reality.
When you start to shift the limiting story you tell yourself, let go of fear, put new habits into the place, the pull back to what is familiar or comfortable is strongest.
It often gets worse before it gets better!
In today’s post I want to talk about how you can stop repeating the same old loop in your life, and break through the fear of being and doing something new.
Why you keep repeating the same reality
Depending on the energy we’re maintaining in any phase of our life, different paths become available to us.
We are presented with many different ‘what ifs’ or timelines. These reflect our beliefs, the strengths we’ve developed and level of self trust.
A new timeline is a set of new opportunities that you could potentially lean into.
These timelines can be ‘negative’ like the opportunity to rekindle a toxic relationship, or ‘positive’ like starting a new career.
As I mentioned when we are entering in a new phase of our life, the old will shout the loudest.
We’ll notice ourselves getting more triggered, thinking of old relationships, or coming up against more obstacles.
A new way of being could literally be within our grasp, but if we aren’t knowledgeable about how energy works – we’ll assume something is ‘going wrong’ and retreat to what we are accustomed to.
The key to entering a new timelines is to remain detached.
Here’s how it usually goes.
You come to an awareness that something has to change in your life and start taking action.
You realize that you can no longer work the same soul-sucking job. You can no longer keep feeding certain relationships. You can no longer take your day to day life for granted…hoping something amazing is going to happen by chance.
Then you start to make changes.
You talk to yourself in a more uplifting way. You journal about your fears and write down your dreams. You become more present and visualize how you would like things to go.
You do all of the techniques and hacks you’ve learned will help you manifest a new life for yourself.
Then you hit a wall.
You’ve spent months, maybe even years ‘doing the work’ but it still feels you are living in a loop. Nothing is changing. Even worse, old dynamics are creeping back even stronger than when you begin.
You start to doubt yourself and feel something is going wrong. You assume you’ve done the wrong techniques or need to find new ones. You can start to believe an unsatisfying life is just what’s meant for you.
What tends to be missing here is real and deep embodiment.
How to embody a new “you”

Embodiment is just a way of saying ‘Being who you think or say you are.’
If you say you want to be a successful creative, are you putting in the work? Are you matching doubts and fears around your expression with supportive thoughts? Are you approaching obstacles as a successful creative would?
When we’ve put in a lot of work and changed our mindset around an identity and things start to get stagnant or ‘go wrong’ we should use these instances as reminders for who we want to be.
Building on that example, if you were already a successful creative and a problem came up, you would be calm knowing there is always a way to pivot.
If you lost a client, you could find another. If a launch of a product doesn’t go to plan, you can relaunch.
So this doesn’t mean you ignore obstacles now or pretend they don’t affect you on some level (we’re only human) but instead of viewing them as barriers, see them as opportunities to think more creatively.
When we allow the strength of conviction in who we are becoming outweigh the temporary obstacles in our way, when we start embodying strongly enough and it becomes a natural way of being…we start collapsing timelines.
Are you unconsciously collapsing positive timelines?
A lot of the people I work with tell me they are having difficulty picking between several good paths!
They get multiple job offers or are being perused by many different eligible people.
There’s a lot of internal and external pressure to pick the ‘right path’.
Here’s the thing…there is no ‘right path’. Remember that we are co-creating with the Universe; this means that what is showing up externally, is often a reflection of an energy we are embodying.
The Universe is not trying to trick you, it’s asking you to make a choice. To co-create with it.
If you are embodying an abundant energy you will often be presented with an abundance of options.
The minute you see this as a ‘test’ in picking the ‘right’ one, you collapse things back down into their limited physical form. This is how the mind approaches abundant not the spirit. Don’t let yourself get too trapped in the mind.
Know a path is only necessarily ‘good’ because you decide to step on it, and it then expands accordingly.
Signs you are collapsing timelines
In other periods of life we might be presented with many different opportunities at once that all feel ill-fitting in some way.
If we rush ourselves and falsely believe we have to pick one option, we can activate a negative timeline.
Remember you have a choice – to not engage with any of them.
Thank the Universe for showing you where your energy is at, and then call in something better.
I like this affirmation: “Thank you for these opportunities, I am ready for better!”
So, how do you know you are finally collapsing timelines and embodying a new reality?
- The stuff that used to bother you no longer does
- You feel even more grounded
- Problems arise but are resolved just as quickly
- Your dreams have gotten more vivid & introspective
- Your level of self trust has increased
Collapsing timelines feels like a sigh of relief on an energetic and emotional level. You know you could have taken a path that would have brought you back to old unhealthy ways, but you chose not to. You collapsed that timeline.
The pattern doesn’t come back as strongly, when it does, you are able to easily detach.
The most obvious sign you are collapsing timelines is that problems come and go easefully. You acknowledge they are there, but approach them with self-trust. In a sense, you already know they are resolved and so they are.
Over the last year specifically I have noticed how timelines will collapse entirely in my dreams.
I will have a bunch of dreams around the same theme, usually an old pattern I thought I was already over but still subconsciously holding onto.
Rather than show up in my physical reality as problems or obstacles, they play out in my dreams as a sort of ‘warning’.
When I wake up from these dreams I accept them but don’t attach too much emotion to them. They’re just coming up to show me what needs to be cleared.
Embodying a new “you” can sound a bit detached. I am just using language that communicates the idea strongly, but really we aren’t becoming anything ‘new’.
We’re reclaiming old strengths and trusting ourselves in the way we did before we had absorbed other peoples’ fears and stories.
We are uncovering or remembering who we really are.
Embodying a new you starts with your everyday habits, especially the mundane ones! You are not a new you only when you are being successful or doing something productive. You get to decide who you are in each moment.
When you wake up, check in with yourself. Where is your energy at and what shifts do you want to make?
When you are noticing strong distracting emotions come up, acknowledge them and decide who you want to be as you approach them.
Spend less time doing things that aren’t allowing you to embody consistently. We don’t need to become monks or ascetics in order to make a big change in our lives, but limiting activities that put you in a loop (like scrolling) is super helpful.
