Slowing down is secretly how you speed up.
This was a line that came to me in meditation spontaneously, and I got a great response when I posted it on social media. In this post I want to expand on that concept and explain why slowing down is a best way to speed up!
We live in a world right now of hustle culture (what we used to call ‘shiny object syndrome’) and always moving onto the next ‘thing’ whatever that is.
We can be mislead into thinking speed is the greatest mark of progress, yet on an intuitive level and if we really pay attention to our bodies, we know this is not the case.
The power of slowing down
This process is something I have been covering in my posts & newsletters over the last few months, and it isn’t always easy to put into action!
First I would like to offer some examples where this applies more clearly.
Think of the times you’ve had to look after a child, whether for family or for your own! If they don’t want to get ready to go out, eat dinner…you name it, the worst thing you can do is hurry them.
And it takes really putting yourself in that space, a slow but centered space, so they naturally feel guided in the right direction.
Another great example of this is in relationships!
There are people who are great at getting into relationships. They break up one week, and the next they’re with someone new.
Sometimes we can do the comparison game and wonder what we are doing wrong, when more often than not, this represents rushing through options rather than considering them thoroughly.
Not slowing down as it comes to relationships can get you many attachments with no real romance. You’ve probably got a story or know someone who rushed into a relationship, only to waste years of their life.
How to slow down & make more progress

The world we live in is often disconnected spiritually, so it’s not always easy to see this concept apply or notice the benefits.
We are so often pressured directly or indirectly to rush – we might even be asked explicitly to do so!
Knowing on an intellectual level that the Universe can support you, and actually feeling that support day by day are two very different experiences…and part of what makes that difference, is slowing down consciously.
These last two weeks that’s what I’ve done on an even deeper level than before.
Taking time away from writing/posting and more on building trust day to day. Things have flowed even better than I was expecting. More clients, higher paying ones, more reach etc.
Seeing this principle in action does require small leaps of faith. As you get in touch with your intuition, knowing when to take leaps of faith so they won’t unsettle you gets easier and easier.
Rest more deeply
Here’s encouragement to do just that! Starting with periods where you do not have to rush but might be unconsciously.
When you have a day off from work and little chores to do. When you’re sick and resting.
How deeply are -really- you letting your body sink into that state?
Practice gratitude
Another way you can start to see this principle come to life is through retrospective gratitude.
Go back over the last few weeks & months and highlight every little thing you haven’t given the Universe/yourself gratitude for. The momentum that has been slowly and quietly building up.
The work you’ve put into creative projects even if ‘nothing substantial’ has come of them. The opportunities you’ve had (even if you missed them), or the people who have reached out when you needed it the most.
I can’t tell you the physical shifts I’ve experienced after doing this just once in moments where my ego was locked into the present circumstances and only what I could see physically.
An affirmation I like to pair with this is ‘I trust the momentum I’m building’
Your mind & energy body does not ‘know’ whether you are practicing gratitude for something that happened 5 seconds ago or 5 years ago – the impact is the exact same.
A good way to know you’re making progress is by how little/much tension is held in the body (the energy body) when you are supposed to be resting.
The more deeply you can sink into these states, the better you’ll be able to spring into action and build momentum when it is actually calling you.
Set clearer intentions
Slowing down also allows you to create better and stronger intentions.
Taking action is super important when working on our goals or manifesting (which is often framed as inaction).
However I have found action to be quite unhelpful when it is done from a desperate, rushed and ill thought out place. Day to day it is natural to do some rushing. Most of us are leading busy lives and juggling many different responsibilities.
However, when you can, setting clearer intentions before you take action can make those actions even more impactful.
I have found that I could take solid action for a whole week with little intention and see just as little results. Then I take action on one day with strong intention, and get ten times as much back.
The energy we put behind actions, I would argue, is even more important than the action itself!

Hey there, I’m Ashley. I hope that by sharing my experiences with deepening my intuition, I can help you find that ‘spark’. That magic we can all experience when our energy is aligned and we feel deeply supported by the Universe.
