In this blog post I want to talk about the power of doing nothing.
By doing nothing I don’t mean forgoing all responsibilities, or lounging around watching Netflix (although that has its place).
I’m talking about spending more time just doing nothing. Sitting in quiet, with no distractions or goal and just being.
When I first started on this ‘spiritual journey’ back in 2018, I was so focused on achieving something with my meditation practice.
Seeing something cool, experiencing something crazy, having those mind-blowing spiritual experiences I had read about.
And I did have quite a few.
But quite quickly I started to feel dissatisfied and overwhelmed. A spiritual emptiness.
I had a period where I had no dreams, no intuitive insights or synchronistic experiences. Just radio silence as I perceived it.
This spiritual emptiness turned into a sort of spiritual depression. I was stimulating my psychic senses, but there was no depth to it.
I decided to go back to basics and just meditate. Not to achieve some spiritual power, but to meditate for the sake of meditating.
Very slowly, over many years, I felt my connection to the Universe strengthen again. And the dreams, experiences and intuitive knowing came back in a much more balanced and grounded way.
Recently (about 2 years ago now) the same sort of pattern reappeared. No dreams, connected experiences or intuitive insights were coming through.
I had manifested a lot of what I wanted, but found it to be unsatisfying or fleeting.
The Universe was redirecting me to ground zero – zero point consciousness – once again.
I dropped a lot of my affirmations, visualizations, even meditation practice this time. I just did nothing. Not sitting around wallowing, but really doing nothing. Being an observer of my reality internal and external.
I allowed whatever responsibilities I had that day to be the main focus. If it was chores, that’s what I would be doing. If I had to run errands, I would be doing that with my full awareness.
My everyday ‘boring’ life was my spiritual practice.
And soon enough, everything started to feel exciting. I would catch myself smiling for no reason at all, just walking past some trees on a walk to the store or doing the dishes.

Sometimes the best way to get your spark back is just by doing nothing.
Forgo the practices, even ‘spiritual’ ones’ that have become too goal-oriented and just be.
Your spirit is quite literally in everything you do, no matter what that is, and that will consistently be your anchor.
The place you come back to when the doubts and fears start piling up, as they are liable to, being humans having a spiritual experience.
We will repeat patterns as humans, but we can also find a deeper awareness blossoming amongst them if we are mindful.
It is our awareness of this that allows us to exit many limiting cycles, even when everything is not progressing ‘perfectly’.

Hey there, I’m Ashley. I hope that by sharing my experiences with deepening my intuition, I can help you find that ‘spark’. That magic we can all experience when our energy is aligned and we feel deeply supported by the Universe.
